Haniwa of a female holding a jar
Data
Era | Kofun period (6th–7th cent.) |

Explanation
This female figure presents many characteristics of the figural haniwas excavated in the northern territories of Japan: the hair done up in a large bun and the wrap-type pleated skirt. Like many other examples, she holds a pot as a ritual offering. Her tunic is decorated with patterned lines along the bottom hem, which makes this figure a little unique.
