Explanation
A leather bag to carry liquids is realistically reproduced down to the stitches in this Sue pottery stoneware. The body is first thrown on a potter’s wheel into a bowl shape, which is then turned upside-down and attached with a mouthpiece before squashed to form a straight-line bottom. Its rather exotic design makes this vessel a rare example.
