Overview
Fujinuma Noboru is a bamboo artist with the recognition as a Living National Treasure in his art. Born in Tochigi prefecture, he started training under Yagisawa Keizō in 1976, developing skills in a variety of traditional bamboo crafting techniques. Fujinuma selects and conditions materials himself, and the work is completed all the way to the final urushi lacquering all by his hands. His original work is highly acclaimed for its elegance, typically having spontaneous forms with striking compositional designs. This exhibition marks the 80th birthday of the artist and celebrates his career that spans over half a century by showcasing his finest 15 works.
