Explanation
This fragment is taken from the collection of transcriptions selected from anthologies Man’yōshū, Kokin-wakashū and others. In this work, calligraphy spreads over two sheets of paper pasted together (tsugi-shikishi). Characteristics of this fragment are the vast blank created in the center from spreading a single poem across two sheets of paper and the distinctively cursive sō-kana scripts. It is a piece of masterly brushwork.
