Explanation

Around the central knob are 16 flower petals. Outside it, eight lions are arranged in four pairs facing each other. A ring which protrudes prominently separates the lions from a band with an inscription in Chinese characters. In the next register are three different groups consisting of a pair of birds and a pair of animals, and in the outermost register is a floral scroll pattern. The entire mirror is thus filled with elaborate designs. This is a fine mirror, excellent both artistically and technically. The wording of the inscription indicates that it is a product of the Sui dynasty.
