Explanation
With the complex development of esoteric Buddhist teaching, variety of different mandalas for specific Buddhas were created besides the fundamental Kongōkai mandala and Taizōkai mandala. This mandala is such example documented in “The Collection of Mandalas”, a three-volume compilation of 44 different mandalas. The first volume consists of eight mandalas, the second and third volume each consists of 18 mandalas. These madalas, orderly depicted with detailed lines and expressiveness, are valuable pieces of art and history. Formerly owned by Tōji temple, Kyoto.
