Explanation
This fragment, which was originally part of a scroll, depicts a poet seated on a tatami mat and it is called Agedatami version (top of tatami style). The description of the poet here is shorter than that of the Satake version and the style of calligraphy is different. Nonetheless from the meticulous depiction of the figure, it is probably the work of a masterful portrait painter of the Kamakura period.
