Finial of a priest’s staff
On the summit of the onion-shaped loop handle sits a miniature crown jewel flanked by decorations of pagodas rising above the clouds. Each of the two ends of the loop holds a water pitcher and in between them is a five-storied stupa rising from a lotus seat. This gild bronze head is shiny and beautiful. The shape of the loop handle, details of the ornaments and the well-balanced design on the main axis attest to the excellent art and craft of the Kamakura period.
