Explanation
This ewer is in the style of Persian vessels and features a handle in the shape of a dragon biting the mouth rim, squeezing the sides together. Whereas most ewers of this type are covered in a white glaze or a three-color glaze, this one is entirely covered in a black glaze except inside the footring. Rather large in size, the ewer displays the characteristic features of the Tang period in its full, swelling body and the tall splayed foot.
